Stefanie + Will | The Carolina Inn, Chapel Hill, NC

Stefanie took Old Hollywood Glamor and knocked it out of the park for her Chapel Hill nuptials! Her hair, the invitation suite, the tablescape by Viva L’Event, her dress… a dress that I’m still mesmerized by… it was absolutely stunning.   For her wedding cake, we create a fun combination of design elements that included […]

The School of Styling’s Summer Bash | Merrimon-Wynne House, Raleigh, NC

The School of Styling has a very special place in my heart.  When Kaitlin held the first workshop at the Merrimon-Wynne House in Downtown Raleigh, she asked me to create little individual cakes for each attendee.  It was one of my first big gigs and I was super nervous about how everything was going to turn out.  I stayed up all night to make sure that everything was perfect and only went to take a cat nap after I was satisfied.

Amanda + Justin | North Ridge Country Club, Raleigh, NC

Amanda + Justin’s wedding married timeless and elegant decor with what seemed to be a fun and rowdy reception.  Their North Ridge Country Club nuptials incorporated tons of white and varying shades of gold was simple, yet stunning. You all know how much I love gold foil, and it’s pretty obvious that Amanda feels the […]

Serenity and Rose Quartz Wedding Inspiration | The Glassbox at 230, Raleigh, NC

I have to admit that I first I wasn’t the biggest fan of Pantone’s color of the year – Serenity and Rose Quartz.  Initially, I felt that they were a little childish and not sophisticated enough, but boy was I wrong.  There is something so cool and sophisticated about the colors – especially when they’re […]

Danna + Gib | Coker Arboretum, Chapel Hill, NC

I have such a soft spot for elopements and really intimate weddings.  Jeff and I were married in front of our immediate family during dusk at Duke Gardens.  It was really short and sweet, much like Danna and Gib’s wedding at Coker Arboretum at UNC . My sweet friend Emily March Payne was on hand […]

Mallory and Bradley were married on beautiful afternoon in September at The Cotton Room in Durham, NC.  During our consultation it was apparent that Mallory was full of great ideas for their wedding cake and dessert table.

Melanie and Alex were one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met.  I had such a great time during our consultation and I’m so happy that I was able to meet with them while they were visiting Raleigh from San Dieg

What do you do when your husband’s close friend asks you to create a wedding cake on the same day as your due date?  You say, “Sure!  I’ll do it!  We’ll make it work!”, but internally you’re thinking that the pregnancy hormones have taken over your brain and you’ve officially lost it.  I just prayed that I would be able to at least deliver the cake before the baby made her appearance.  Their cake consisted of our Summer Lovin’ and Southern Belle flavors, and was decorated with navy quilting with gold dragees, gold luster and navy ribbon – timeless and elegant.

June 2016 Goals

It’s June.  Already.  We’re halfway through the year and I have no idea how it happened.  May was really a whirlwind of a month.  We had a record number of weddings, hosted a grand opening party (so fun and more on that later!) and provided a ton of sweets for The Trouvaille Workshop.  There were […]

Amanda + Michael | The Cotton Room, Durham, NC

t’s a perfect day here in Raleigh.  The sun is shining after so many dreary and rainy days.  The birds are chirping outside my back door.  There’s not a cloud in the sky.  As an island girl, I live for dreamy days like this.

Speaking of dreamy days, Amanda and Michael’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful!  Their color palette of blue, yellow, and gray made for such a bright and cheerful wedding.  It didn’t hurt that the morning sunlight was filling The Cotton Room.  Ariel Perry did an amazing job capturing their day. Also, a huge ‘Thank You’ to Sabrina Seymore Events for the referral.
