A few weeks ago, I had the honor to showcase some of my sweets at the Merrimon-Wynne Winter 2019 Bridal Showcase. If you’re not familiar with it, the Merrimon-Wynne House is an absolutely stunning wedding and event venue right in the middle of downtown Raleigh.
The Merrimon Wynne house was originally built in 1876 and restored to include picturesque grounds and a large conference/reception hall, so it has both antique charm and a modern aesthetic that is universally appealing.

For the showcase, I made two multi-tiered cakes along with samples of some of my popular cake flavors, mini tarts and dessert shooters for the dessert table.
My favorite piece of the display was this four tiered emerald beauty. Adorned with isomalt jewels and textured detailing, it caught everyone’s eye! Although it is arguably a showstopper in its own right, the floral instillation by Fresh Affairs took the cake table to the next level.
The second dessert table, although perhaps not as dramatic as the emerald cake, was an extremely popular stop as well. I created a two-tier cake with navy ruffles and white texture design as the focal point.
To accompany it, I created samples of some of my popular flavor pairings.
First, almond cake with amaretto mousse and black cherry buttercream. Next, Summer Lovin’ cake (lemon curd and fresh strawberries) with vanilla bean buttercream.
Finally, Jamocha Me Crazy cake with espresso buttercream and chocolate or caramel ganache. To round out the table, I finished it with dessert shooters and mini tarts!
The Merrimon Wynne Bridal Showcase was an incredible afternoon that I’m honored to have been a part of! Meeting new brides and their families is always one of the highlights of the wedding industry and I can’t wait to see what cake designs are on the horizon for them!
