Confession: I was not a fan of Gatsby-inspired weddings. Maybe it was the flowers.  Or maybe it’s that I thought every Gatsby inspired cake looked super similar and a little juvenile. But then I did one for my cousin’s wedding and realized that there was so much variation that could be incorporated.  So when Emily of Whiskey and White Events told me that her clients, Leslie and Tyler, were looking for a cake that would double as a statement piece for their 1920’s wedding I was so excited.  Not only did they want a huge cake, but the inspiration came from George and Amal Clooney’s gigantic wedding cake.  We decided to incorporate smaller tiers of gold within the geometric emerald, black and gold lines.  Check out the photos by Kelley Deal Photography for some beautify Gatsby-like inspiration.
