I don’t care what the calendar says, summer has officially arrived in Raleigh, NC. I’m ready for day trips to the beach, lounging out my the pool, and paddle boating in Pullen Park. [Sidenote: notice the common theme here? I was probably a mermaid in another life.] I don’t know about you, but when the mercury in the thermometer climbs over 85F I try my best to find desserts that I don’t have to turn on the oven to make. So, it made perfect sense to make a milkshakes for dessert on Sunday. There wasn’t too much of an internal debate over the flavor – of course it had to be peach, the quintessential fruit of summer.
I don’t know about you, but I love my milkshakes to be super thick, a la Cook-Out, and the 3 cups of ice-cream definitely makes this one super thick. Add a little cinnamon, honey, and vanilla wafers and you have the perfect cold summer treat. It really doesn’t get much easier than this.
Homemade Peach Milkshake
Yields 2-3 milkshares (depending on how willing you are to share)
Ingredients
- 3 fresh peaches, peeled and diced
- 3 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 1/3 cup of whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 10 vanilla wafers
Directions
- With a paring knife, peel all the skin off of the peaches. If you’re peaches are soft or you’re not sure exactly how to do this, here’s a great guide to help you along. Dice the peaches and add them to the blender.
- Then, add the ice cream, whole milk, cinnamon, honey, and vanilla wafers. Feel free to play around with the amounts of these ingredients.
- Blend until all of the ingredients are combined and then serve in your favorite glass.
Stay sweet!
