I like to think of myself as a pretty awesome sister, and I’m sure that my baby brother would generally agree with that statement depending on whether I’ve lovingly lectured him that day or not. However, I think that Claire of Orangerie Events should win Best Sister in Life award for helping to organize a surprise wedding for her brother and sister-in-law. It was such as sweet way for their families to celebrate their love, since they were unable to make it to Rachel and Bernie’s first wedding. When Priscilla reached out to me to ask if I wanted to participate, there was no way that I could say no, especially since I have a soft spot for second weddings (fun fact: Jeff and I had one in Raleigh and one in Nassau).
In an attempt to not completely mess up this beautiful love story, I wanted to share Rachel and Bernie’s journey to the Mims House mantle straight from Inspired by This
Love is a unique journey and Rachel and Bernie’s story is no different which is why they are so deserving of this moment. These two fated hearts met while Rachel was attending officer training school for the Air Force in Alabama. Bernie was a tall, dark, and handsome military man and through some convincing of her sister in law, Rachel decided to give this guy a shot. Taking the chance worked out because less than a year later they were blessed with a son on the way and decided to tie the knot at their local church. Due to the rushed nuptials their family was unable to be present and Rachel didn’t get to experience the magic of such a wonderful occasion. Rachel’s sister in law wanted to give her the wedding day of her dreams as a surprise and luckily this bride loves surprises!
