Editorial Wedding in Virginia | As Seen in Style Me Pretty

Weddings

back to blog

Being published in Style me Pretty is a goal for many of us in the wedding industry. But twice? I am beyond honored and excited to share with you this editorial wedding in Virginia. This stunning spring wedding is in Style Pretty for Me here. If you are looking for wedding inspiration, you can also see the original feature here. This Virginia Wedding Photo shoot was a mix of a few of our favorite things. You’ll find spring colors, an abundance of florals, and a classic, fairytale, aesthetic. One word comes to mind – Ethereal! We were so thrilled to be part of a shoot that held as much magic, glamor, and whimsy as this one.

As a wedding cake designer, I love having a view of the overall aesthetic and then given the agency to bring that aesthetic and vision into your wedding cake. Although I am based in Raleigh, I travel all across the tri-state area delivering wedding cakes that taste as good as they look. You don’t need layers of fondant for a beautiful cake. Instead, I start with natural, locally sourced, delicious ingredients. If that’s what you are looking for in a Virginia wedding cake, learn more here.

Spring Wedding Colors & Ethereal Editorial Details

This Virginia wedding shoot is unique because we combined a light pastel color palette with a completely editorial feel. After a year of postponed weddings and micro celebrations, there was a sense of hope and positivity in this collaboration. Head to toe, gown to cake, the look on this day was inspired by the French countryside and Monet’s Garden. While we couldn’t actually fly all the way to the French countryside (darn!), we made do with the beautiful, spacious hills over Charlottesville.  After a long year of seeing major events, parties, and of course, weddings put on hold, it was so nice for each vendor involved to stretch their creative muscles and create this dreamy shoot. No detail was too small to be included.

Virginia Garden Wedding Inspiration

This garden wedding was inspired loosely off of the Claude Monet’s garden at Giverny. The wedding planner wanted to bring the ambiance of the French countryside to this Virgina garden wedding venue. It definitely did not disappoint. Early Mountain Vineyards was a stunning Virginia wedding venue and I can’t wait to return for many future weddings. Wild Fleurette did an incredible job putting together florals that were both editorial and wild. It was needlessly romantic.

Classic White Wedding Cake

To complement that gorgeous, subtle details, I designed a wedding cake that would be gorgeous on its own, with no over the top details. We, of course, loved providing a cake that was every bit as ethereal as the shoot itself. The simple, signature cake was completed by bright and bold wafer flowers. The mix of the simple with the bold was in keeping with the impressionist style inspiring this gorgeous shoot. I wanted to exude simple elegance that you often find in French countryside weddings. A white wedding cake is a classic, but it truly never gets old.

I hope you enjoy this french countryside wedding inspiration as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. I believe cake is always more than just cake. Cake is the centerpiece of life’s most precious moments, but that doesn’t mean it needs to steal the show. For this Virginia wedding, we kept it understated so it fit into the french countryside aesthetic. A touch of florals was truly all this classic white wedding cake needed.
