As a designer, it is so easy to box yourself into one design aesthetic.
Don’t get me wrong, it is perfectly fine to be known for a particular style, but sometimes you need to stretch your creative muscle. For instance, I feel like Sugar Euphoria is known for our textured buttercream and naked cakes – but that’s not the only type of cake that we can design … or love to design. But it is the type of cake that many brides are drawn to nowadays and they are pretty fun to make.
Being able to create fun and unique cakes is one of the highlights of my career, which is why I love participating in editorial shoots. Keep scrolling to see the cakes that we submitted to Weddings Magazine for their 2017 issue. Shot at The Carolina Inn by Walters & Walters Photography,
This delicate cake is inspired by my grandmother, Genevieve. She has a gorgeous and extensive china collection that I’ve loved my entire life. All of the patterns are so delicate and beautiful; they make me want to have 4 o’clock tea everyday. The blue pattern was created using wafer paper and edible ink. The lace details and the ruffles are a nod to her femininity. I love you, Grand!
Recently, I’ve gotten into bold, modern designs There are so many amazing cake designers worldwide who are leading this movement. Elements like metallics, geometric prints, and dark colors are great ways to add some ‘oomph’ to you wedding cake. You can always soften it up with fresh florals like I did here.
I hope that you love the designs and I can’t wait to share more with you!
Nothing wrong with updating your sense of euphoria!
