What do you do when your husband’s close friend asks you to create a wedding cake on the same day as your due date? You say, “Sure! I’ll do it! We’ll make it work!”, but internally you’re thinking that the pregnancy hormones have taken over your brain and you’ve officially lost it.
I just prayed that I would be able to at least deliver the cake before the baby made her appearance. Their cake consisted of our Summer Lovin’ and Southern Belle flavors and was decorated with navy quilting with gold dragees, gold luster, and navy ribbon – timeless and elegant.
So November 28th came and I had been having Braxton-Hicks contractions for a few days. The cake was completed, boxed up, and ready to be delivered. Jeff and I packed up the car and headed to the University Club in Durham, NC. Once the cake was set up, I was able to finally relax. Carrington and Tia of Erin McLean Events created such a beautiful ceremony and reception.
Olivia of Nancy Ray Photography captured all of the night’s magic. Everything from the florals to linens to the paper goods was perfect! I’m so happy that we were able to experience the union of Shannon and Aaron, even if I was only able to make it through dinner before I went into labor. That’s right! Thirty-six hours of labor started as I made my way to the dance floor.
Congratulations Shannon + Aaron! Thank you for having us at your wedding. Here are more photos at the beautiful University Club Durham wedding venue.
