We have so many incredible wedding venues here in North Carolina, but the Carolina Grove stands out because of the breathtaking beauty of nature they have all around them! They really maximized the natural beauty of their wedding locations and it shows. The folks who designed this North Carolina wedding venue were absolute geniuses, as natural light seems to stream in everywhere. This meant there was no shortage of beautiful places to photograph our modern wedding cake. In fact, we had trouble picking just one spot! We ended up using the patio, the large door backdrop, and the back wall of the venue. I’m already counting the days until I am back at The Carolina Grove again!

Spring Wedding Ideas in North Carolina

This photoshoot just felt like springtime to me and reminded me of a picnic on a warm, breezy spring day. The use of bright colors and the wicker basket details made it feel even more whimsical and fairytale-esque. Using baskets instead of vases or urns added a layer of casualness to this shoot that we absolutely loved. Time and time again, I’m reminded that luxury never needs to feel forced. This wedding design was minimalist – nothing felt “over the top”. We used a stunning and classic color palette of blue, greenery, white, and pops of pink, peach and gold. Gone are the days of monochrome color palettes, modern weddings are showing a range of colors and textures. Although the design was relatively minimal, there was a richness in the details.

I knew I wanted to create a modern wedding cake for The Carolina Grove wedding venue, but I also wanted something that felt naturally beautiful- like the wedding venue it would be in. We ended up with a stunning two tier wedding cake with a single peach flower and one stem of greenery. I chose to create the cake with a unique – and showstopping – oval shape! While oval still have a very natural shape, it provided the modern upgrade we needed over the more classic round shape. It was the perfect fit for The Carolina Grove wedding venue.
