editorial, weddings, and personal life
I have to admit that I first I wasn’t the biggest fan of Pantone’s color of the year – Serenity and Rose Quartz. Initially, I felt that they were a little childish and not sophisticated enough, but boy was I wrong. There is something so cool and sophisticated about the colors – especially when they’re […]
I have such a soft spot for elopements and really intimate weddings. Jeff and I were married in front of our immediate family during dusk at Duke Gardens. It was really short and sweet, much like Danna and Gib’s wedding at Coker Arboretum at UNC . My sweet friend Emily March Payne was on hand […]
Mallory and Bradley were married on beautiful afternoon in September at The Cotton Room in Durham, NC. During our consultation it was apparent that Mallory was full of great ideas for their wedding cake and dessert table.
Melanie and Alex were one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met. I had such a great time during our consultation and I’m so happy that I was able to meet with them while they were visiting Raleigh from San Dieg
What do you do when your husband’s close friend asks you to create a wedding cake on the same day as your due date? You say, “Sure! I’ll do it! We’ll make it work!”, but internally you’re thinking that the pregnancy hormones have taken over your brain and you’ve officially lost it. I just prayed that I would be able to at least deliver the cake before the baby made her appearance. Their cake consisted of our Summer Lovin’ and Southern Belle flavors, and was decorated with navy quilting with gold dragees, gold luster and navy ribbon – timeless and elegant.
t’s a perfect day here in Raleigh. The sun is shining after so many dreary and rainy days. The birds are chirping outside my back door. There’s not a cloud in the sky. As an island girl, I live for dreamy days like this.
Speaking of dreamy days, Amanda and Michael’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful! Their color palette of blue, yellow, and gray made for such a bright and cheerful wedding. It didn’t hurt that the morning sunlight was filling The Cotton Room. Ariel Perry did an amazing job capturing their day. Also, a huge ‘Thank You’ to Sabrina Seymore Events for the referral.
We’re all about celebrating milestones over here at Sugar Euphoria – no matter how big or small – so I was so excited to create a colorful watercolor cake for Destiny’s fabulous birthday fete.
I’m so honored to have a Sugar Euphoria cake named as one of Munaluchi’s Most Beautiful Spring Cakes! Within the Munaluchi community there are so many talented cake artists and I’m constantly inspired by them. Please head over to their blog to see cakes by Dana Herbert of Desserts by Dana, Sabrina Hare of Couture Cakes by Sabrina, along with designs by cake artists Van Earl, Sherese Payne, Stephanie Sanders and Elizabeth Solaru.
In case you missed it, A. J. Dunlap hosted the second Darling Wedding Workshop at The Glassbox earlier this month. The Darling Wedding Workshop is “a workshop for creative women. A place where women can build uplifting community and have hands-on experience at the same time.” While this workshop was just for photographers, the next one will encompass other creative fields. I’m so excited for A.J. and the future of her workshop.
Here’s a little known fact about me. I’m a sucker for bright, bold colors against a neutral background. No baby pink and mint green for me! Give me fuschia and neon orange. Give me crazy, mismatched prints. Give me the deep greens of tropical plants. Unfortunately, my Jeffery doesn’t share my love for colorful decor and is perfectly fine with brown leather couches and light gray couches. He’s definitely super manly and super traditional in his own design aesthetic, so I’ve made it my mission to combine our two opposite styles. I haven’t been successful so far, but I’m trying really, really hard to make it work. In the meantime, I’m dead set on turning the bakery into my own design oasis.
