Girlfriends. Mimosas. Brunch.
All of the ingredients for a much needed weekend. I just started a pretty high-energy job, so when my best friends suggested a trip to D.C. I was beyond ready for the trip. I knew that it would be the perfect time to relax, have girl-talk, and explore one of my favorite cities.
I always have an amazing time when I visit D.C. I’m not saying that I could ever live there, because I’m an island/country girl at heart, but weekend trips are perfect. There is so much that you can do, like visiting the museums and monuments, shopping in Georgetown, hanging out at the bars in Adams Morgan, and stuffing my face at all of the amazing restaurants. My number one goal for this trip, aside from being with my favorite ladies, was to indulge in bottomless mimosas. My friend Preston suggested Station 4, and it was absolutely amazing! Thanks Preston!!
How cute is the decor at Station 4? I fell in love as soon as I walked through the door. I fell even more in love when the waitress filled our glasses with mimosas.
Not only were the drinks flowing, but the food was amazing! I had the Brioche French Toast, which was topped with raspberries and blueberries, raspberry butter, powdered sugar and maple syrup.
Iris ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which came with avocado, mozzarella and ranchera sauce. In my opinion, all the omelette needed was chorizo, and it would have been perfect (but not vegetarian-friendly at all).
Danielle’s food was drool-worthy for a carnivore like me. Her sirloin steak was so juicy, and the duck fat fries were awesome.
After our 3 hour brunch, we hopped on the metro and headed to Georgetown because I had to visit the famous Georgetown Cupcake store. On our walk through Georgetown, I spotted someone with a Baked and Wired bag and stopped in my tracks. I’ve been infatuated with that bakery for months, ever since I came across their page on Instagram. They have the most outrageous names for their desserts, but you can’t help but love them. So, I dragged Iris and Danielle to Baked and Wired, promising them that they wouldn’t be disappointed.
When I walked into the shop, I’m convinced that the Hallelujah Chorus started playing. Baked and Wired looks like it came right out of my dreams.
I gained so much inspiration for what I want the Sugar Euphoria storefront to look. The bakery is so hip, with crazy sayings, lyrics and names for their treats. There are so many options, that I had the hardest time deciding on what to treat myself to. In the end, I went with an ice cream sandwich and a cupcake. Greedy much? You betcha!
The bakedwich consists of homemade vanilla ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies. I’ll definitely be making these at home. With all of the cookie/ice cream combos out there, the possibilities are endless. I wish I had a picture of the cupcake, but I ate it all too fast to take a picture – it was that good! I had The Tessita, which is a super moist vanilla cake, with dulce de leche filling and chocolate-hazelnut frosting. It. Was. AWESOME!
